Dear
Parents and guardians,
I am delighted that your son or daughter is in my math class
this year. With your encouragement, your child will participate
in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic
year.
Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make
responsible choices, I have developed a classroom disciple
plan that will guide every student to make good decisions about
his or her behavior. Your child deserves the most positive
educational climate possible for his or her growth, and I know
that together we will make a difference in this process. The
plan below outlines our classroom rules and consequences for
inappropriate behavior. They are:
Rules:
1. Follow directions of the teacher the first time.
2. Be in your seats and ready to work as the bell rings.
3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4. Bring appropriate materials to class (such as pencils, erasers, paper,
etc.).
|
Note:
All school-wide rules will be enforced.
|
Consequences:
If a student chooses to break a rule, consequences will
include verbal warnings, written warnings, detention,
reduction in overall grade, parent contact, and referrals
to the Dean.
|
In addition to the classroom rules, you should be aware of
the following classroom policies:
Homework
Homework will be assigned daily and will include reading
of the section and completion of the assigned problems.
Daily homework will be due in class each day. Homework
will be collected at my discretion. Each assignment must
have the student's name, date, class period, and assignment
in the upper right-hand corner of the student's paper. |
|
Late Work
I will not accept late work except due to absence. If
a student is absent, it is the responsibility of that
student to obtain and complete the homework assignment(s)
for each absent day. The homework will be due on the
following day after the student's return. |
|
Notebooks
Students are encouraged to keep a notebook in order
to maintain daily lecture notes. The notebooks
must be kept neat and organized for it will be the students'
most important study tool. |
|
Intellectual Integrity
It is of the utmost importance that students value and
honor intellectual integrity in my classroom. There will
be an extremely strict "no cheating" policy
enforced in my class throughout the year. If a student
is suspected of cheating, then he/she will automatically
receive a "zero" on that assignment in addition
to losing 5% off of their overall grade percentage (the
5% deduction will be taken from the participation/cooperation
category). |
Be assured that my goal is to work
with you to ensure the success of your child this year. Please
read and discuss this classroom discipline plan with your child.
Feel free to contact me anytime you would like to talk something
over. If you leave a message at (909) 971-8230, I will return
your call as soon as possible. Thank you.
